Beaverlodge RCMP has arrest a man suspected of breaking into a well site north of Hythe. Officers arrived at the rural location around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, and saw a vehicle trying to flee the scene.
They were able to stop it using a spike belt, but the driver ran into the woods. Local hunters spotted the man and notified police, who were able to find him hiding in a field with the help of Police Dog Services.
41 year old Aaron Edward McDermid of Hythe has been charged with 16 criminal offences. He remains in custody and will appear in court Wednesday.
