408 tickets handed out in first two days of school year

In just the first two days of the school year, more than 400 tickets were handed out in school zones across Grande Prairie. In total, there were 408 moving and parking violations, the worst of which was for speeding 72 kilometres an hour in the 30 kilometre zone around St. Patrick’s School.

During the first four days of school last year, 361 people were caught speeding.

Grande Prairie Crime Prevention reminds residents to slow down in school and playground zones, as well as avoid parking in crosswalks and bus areas to drop their children off. U-turns, distracted driving and not wearing seatbelts are other issues being spotted.
