UPDATE: Second woman seriously injured in Fox Creek fatal helicopter crash

UPDATE #5: STARS Air Ambulance has confirmed it transported a woman in her early 40s to the QEII Hospital in serious but stable condition. The crew had to land at a difficult to access location.

UPDATE #4: The helicopter crew was conducting aerial surveys of pine beetles for Alberta Agriculture and Forestry at the time. The province has offered its condolences to the families of those involved.

UPDATE #3: The deceased is a 44 year old woman, but it’s unclear whether she was the helicopter’s pilot or a passenger. The aircraft was a Bell 206, which is a dual-blade chopper with either a single or twin engine.

UPDATE #2: RCMP have confirmed one of the women involved in the crash had died.

UPDATE: The Transportation Safety Board has confirmed a team of investigators to the site of the crash. It reports it is 20 kilometres southwest of Fox Creek.

A helicopter has crashed roughly 33 kilometres southwest of Fox Creek. Corporal Laurel Scott with Alberta RCMP says there were two women and one man on board who were injured.

We’re awaiting further information from various authorities and will update when we learn more.
