A parole board has decided to release a man who killed his family at their Valleyview vacation home when he was 15 years old. Back in August 1991, Gavin Joseph Mandin shot his two sisters from an inch away, and dragged his stepfather’s body behind an ATV. He then cut open his dead mother’s clothing and exposed her body.
Now known as Gavin Ian Maclean, he was given day parole in 2012 and has since been living in a community residential facility and works as a provider of remote IT support. Where he’s living has not been released, but conditions of his parole include staying out of Alberta and attending counselling once a month. A reason for the murders has never been given.
