Grande Prairie Public School Division bouncing back from flooding in new administration building

Looking ahead to the new school year, Grande Prairie Public School Division will welcome a few new facilities.

Board Chair John Lehners explains that Isabel Campbell Public School, Parkside Montessori and Riverstone Public School will be open for September. They also just acquired a new office space for administration in the ”Focus building” on 120th Avenue but there has been a few bumps in the road.

“A month ago when we had that wonderful rain that fell on our wonderful city, it got our basement a little bit wet. We are trying to resolve that. Our intent is still to move in this school year but probably in stages.”

The school division also has a new Royal Oaks school to look forward to for next fall.

This will be the first full year for the new Superintendent and CEO Sandy McDonald. Lehners explains that the fact that he is a local boy makes for an easy transition.

The first day of school for public schools is Thursday, September 1st.
