New Community Mobility Plan finalized, off to city council for approval

Increasing service standards for the transit system and creating and maintaining a community mobility map are some of the key recommendations of the city’s new Community Mobility Plan. Environmental Stewardship Manager Michelle Gairdner says the document also includes the creation of a active transportation co-ordinator.

“So it would work with school programs, with neighbourhood associations, it would co-ordinate the Commuter Challenge that happens every June, it would work on engaging the community, educating the community by working with enforcement services.”

Gairdner says close to two years of work has gone into the plan, which included several consultations with city residents. She says parts of the plan are already being implemented, with other parts set to be introduced over the next five years.
