New sour gas plant set for Wapiti region

The Alberta Energy Regulator has approved a new sour gas plant for the Wapiti region. Run by SemCAMS, the plant southwest of Grande Prairie will have the capacity to process 200 million cubic feet per day, along with 20,000 barrels of condensate.

The gas will be sent to the company’s two existing sour gas plants in the region, to be used by producers in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

Vice president and general manager David Gosse says they’re in talks with multiple players.
