UPDATE: Impaired driving charges laid against Grande Prairie man in fatal rollover

UPDATE: As of October 24, 2017, eight of the nine charges against Ouellette have been withdrawn. On a dangerous operation of a motor vehicle charge, he was given a conditional sentencing order of two years less a day and a 15-month licence suspension.

A Grande Prairie man has been charged in connection with a fatal rollover near Westlock. There were five people in a truck when it went off the road near Highway 44 and Highway 661 late Friday night.

A 23 year old from nearby Dapp was killed at the scene, while another 23 year old from the hamlet was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 23 year old from Westlock was airlifted to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The fourth passenger, a 20 year old also from Westlock was not injured, along with the driver of the vehicle.

21 year old Ryan Paul Ouellette of GP has been charged with multiple impaired driving offences, along with dangerous driving causing death and bodily harm. He’s been released with several conditions and will be back in Westlock court on September 14th.
