After RCMP noticed an increase in speeding cars near a construction zone east of the Peace River airport, they set up a couple speed traps. The Peace River Integrated Traffic Unit did the two road blocks on Highway 2 over the weekend of August 13th and 14th.
Altogether, there were 59 tickets issued over that weekend in the same construction zone with police catching speeders of up to 113 kilometres an hour in a 50 kilometre zone.
RCMP are reminding drivers that the speed limit in the construction zone in that area remains at 50.
