Accused killer of Whitefish teens was reportedly a friend

The mother of one of the murdered Whitefish Lake First Nation teens says they were killed by a friend. 19 year old Edward Gladue made his first appearance on a pair of second degree murder charges Monday.

He’s accused of shooting both 19 year old Cory Grey and her boyfriend 17 year old Dylan Laboucan in late July. Laboucan’s mother, Becky Thunder, told Global News that he and Gladue went to school and played basketball together, and that Dylan had been invited to Edward’s aunt’s house several times.

Thunder adds that Gladue even came to her house while the community was searching for the teens, who had been reported missing on July 23rd. He reportedly also texted Laboucan’s cousins asking questions about the investigation.

He’ll next be in High Prairie court on September 19th.
