The new general manager for Revolution Place will be coming to Grande Prairie from Moose Jaw. Scott Clark has been at the Yara Centre and Mosaic Place facilities since they opened in 2010 and 2011, and spent eight years as the manager of sales channel development for the Toronto Blue Jays before that. Clark was in Grande Prairie for an interview in June, and says it’s a unique place.
“I really enjoyed seeing the city; I think it’s a very liveable city. There’s tremendous facilities; the retail’s outstanding. I just think it’s a wonderful opportunity that way to see what we can do to take the business in Grande Prairie and who knows, maybe put some new spins on it.”
A date for his arrival hasn’t been set, but he’s expected around mid-September. Clark’s family will be joining him at the end of the next school year, as he has daughters in grade six and 12. He says it’s too early to say what his plans for the building, but he’s planning to hit the ground running.
“Coming from a brand new building to a building that opened somewhere around 20 years [ago], it brings some different challenges and I’m looking forward to that. It looks like there’s certainly a great team at Revolution Place; I haven’t met those folks yet, but I’m looking forward to that, and there’s some really good support, from what I’m seeing, at City Hall.”
The Grande Prairie facility was built in 1995 and was previously known as the Canada Games Arena and Crystal Centre. Clark replaces Jane Cada-Sharp, who retired at the end of March after more than 24 years as GM.
