Arrest made in double homicide of Whitefish Lake First Nation teens

High Prairie RCMP have arrested a suspect in the double homicide of two Whitefish Lake First Nation teens. 17 year old Dylan Laboucan and his 19 year old girlfriend Cory Grey went missing the night of July 23rd. Laboucan’s body was found on the first nation Monday night and Grey was found Tuesday afternoon in a rural area outside of High Prairie.

An autopsy determined the couple had been shot and their deaths were by homicide. As the first nation is a small community, it’s believed they knew their murderer in some way.

Police say the person in custody is their only suspect, but since charges have not yet been laid, their name has not been released. RCMP Major Crimes Unit continues its investigation with the Forensic Identification Section and local officers.

More information is expected Friday.
