Driver ejected from vehicle in B.C. Peace crash dies in hospital

An accident north of Fort St. John has claimed a life. RCMP say the 23 year old man was driving north on Highway 97 near Charlie Lake when his pickup hit the centre median and rolled.

Police believe he wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time and was ejected from the truck. He was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries and died a few hours later. The driver has been identified as a Charlie Lake resident, but his name has not been released.

The rollover happened around 1 a.m. and the highway remains closed for mounties to investigate. A detour is available via the Charlie Lake Frontage Road.
