Man accused in prostitution investigation arrested in Halifax

It would seem that Irving Oldford had no intention of making his first court appearance on prostitution charges. The 56 year old man was supposed to appear on August 3rd in Grande Prairie to answer to three counts of procuring prostitution of someone under the age of 18 and one count of sexual assault.

He failed to appear, as it turned out he was already back in custody on the other side of the country. Halifax Police Service say Oldford was arrested during a traffic stop on August 1st and charged with breach of recognizance and possession of a controlled substance.

He was originally arrested in Grande Prairie after a month long investigation into reports he was targeting high risk teenage boys and trying to get them to take part in the sex trade. He’d been released on his own recognizance with several conditions.
