Falher double murder trial underway after more than five years

The man accused of killing two woman from the Falher area in December 2010 is finally on trial. The proceedings on two counts of first degree murder began Monday in Peace River.

54 year old Edward John Chomiak of Nampa is accused in the deaths of his estranged wife 45 year old Melody Perry and her daughter 20 year old Jerica Bouchard. Their bodies were found at a home the morning of December 15th after police and EMS followed up on a 9-1-1 hang up call.

This is the fifth attempt at a trial after several delays, including the firing of Chomiak’s lawyer and a request for a psychiatric evaluation. The trial by judge and jury should last through Friday.
