Community partners set up informational check stop

If you are pulled over today in a traffic stop, you may get an informational brochure instead of a ticket.

Grande Prairie and Area Safe Communities’ Injury Prevention Committee has planned an informational check stop for this afternoon from from 1:30 pm to around 2:30 pm. They will be set up at 100th Street and 122nd Avenue handing out information on provincial impaired driving legislation and the penalties for driving impaired.

The Committee is partnering with RCMP, City Enforcement, the Office of Traffic Safety and other traffic partners.

According to statistics provided by the committee, 25% of collisions in the Grande Prairie area happen after people have consumed alcohol.
