Fire hazard lowered in the Peace

The recent rainfall has watered down the fire hazard in the region.

Alberta Wildfire says the Grande Prairie region is sitting at low but to be careful anyway. They add that over the weekend, crews spent time putting out abandoned camp fires. The province would like residents to do their part and put out their fires even if they are only going for a short hike.

So far this year, there has been 138 hectares burned in the Grande Prairie Forest Protection Area and 67 fires.
