Bear Creek Folk Festival partnership brings opportunity for local musicians

The first annual Bear Creek Folk Festival is bringing more than just big lineup. The event will run mid-August with headliners like Corb Lund, Bahamas and Bruce Cockburn.

Producer of the festival Sarah Card explains that they have created a new partnership along with the event that will provide opportunities for local musicians.

“Their whole mandate is to help emerging artists establish their careers. They have helped artists in Calgary and Edmonton for a long time. They are called the Alberta Arts Touring Alliance and because of the festival, they have elected to start holding events in Grande Prairie.”

She says this will allow musicians to perform in front of talent buyers from across the province. Some artists may not be ready for the big event like the Bear Creek Folk Fest but the new partnership will allow them to develop their skills.
