UPDATE: High water level in Grande Prairie after rain storm

UPDATE: Roads around the city of Grande Prairie are slowly clearing of water after a storm passed through early Tuesday evening.

Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership says that if you are heading outdoors, to stay away from flooded areas. They add that people should be extra careful around manhole covers.

Residents should also stay away from Bear Creek as water can rise quickly.

Emergency crews are attending to calls.

The city crews can be called for non-emergency work at 780-532-4519.

A storm that swept through Grande Prairie early Tuesday evening has many roads flooded with water.

The underground parkade at the QEII hospital is flooded.

Eastlink Centre is closed until further notice due to flooding in the basement. Their phone systems could be affected by the damage.

There has been reports of cars submerged in water. Eastlink Centre parking lot has approximately two feet of water pooling.

The City of Grande Prairie transit is temporarily out of service due to flooding and severe weather.

Flooded roads have also been reported in Pinnacle and main roads like main street downtown. Crystal Heights entrance has water pooling as well as 100th Street at Cobblestone.

Kateri Drive has reports of water pooling around a metre high.
