Alberta Health Services’ mobile mammography unit will be back in the Peace Region in August. It will be in Fairview from July 30th to August 10th, then Grimshaw for two days. From the 15h to 17 it will be in Peace River and then it will visit Hythe from the 19th to 29th. A trailer will also be stationed in Valleyview from the 26th to 30th.
The mobile unit helps AHS reach women in more remote, northern Alberta communities where mammograms may not be readily available. The breast x-rays have been proven as the most effective way of detecting breast cancer early on.
