Fatal collision in Dawson Creek

RCMP are investigating a serious collision that happened yesterday in Dawson Creek.

An officer came across the incident at 11:44 am at 15th Avenue and the Alaska Highway. A woman was giving CPR to a man who was involved in the collision. After the officer called for assistance, he provided medical assistance to the man as well. The man later died in hospital.

Dawson Creek RCMP, Traffic Services as well as a Fort St John Traffic Reconstructionist remain on the scene and have the highway closed off in both directions with an unknown reopening time.

Although investigations continue, police believe that a cube van was making a left turn and a recreational vehicle was coming from the opposite direction making a left turn. They allege that the victim, who was riding a motorcycle, had drove straight through the two and he hit the right rear corner of the van.

The Independent Investigations Office is also assessing the incident.
