Pre-trial conference for alleged serial bank robber on the books

There have been numerous delays in getting the case against a man charged with nine bank robberies across western Canada to trial, but it’s getting closer. A judge in Lethbridge has decided to hold a pre-trial conference on August 17th.

27 year old Shaun Cornish was arrested at a Grande Prairie motel, two days after a bank in Dawson Creek was held up on January 28th, 2015. That was the ninth bank robbery in a crime spree across Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan since December 1st the year before.

There has been more than 20 court appearances, partly because Cornish is being held in B.C. The province had been waiting to see what would happen with his robbery charges there.
