Grande Prairie lacrosse teams wins provincial gold medal

A Grande Prairie lacrosse team is representing Zone 8 at this Alberta Summer Games after winning a gold medal at provincials last weekend. The Thrashers took the Bantam C division in Lloydminster with a convincing 15 to 2 victory over the Edmonton Rebels. They handily won their other two games 17 to 4 over Calgary Friday and 10 to 5 over Edmonton North Saturday.

The squad is heading to the Leduc games as the best in the province, and Coach Lucas Brunham believes they’ll be successful if they play like last weekend. Four games are guaranteed, but they’ll get a fifth if they make it to finals Sunday morning.
