Fire at Fort St. John Mary Brown’s after two cases of arson in Grande Prairie

RCMP in Fort St. John are looking into whether a fire at the Mary Brown’s restaurant in that city may be connected to two arsons at the shop here in Grande Prairie. A fire broke out at the Fort St. John location around 3:20 a.m. Sunday morning.

Thanks to sprinklers and efforts of firefighters, the fire was contained. Staff Sergeant Steve Perret says they’re treating it as an arson investigation, and are aware of the two incidents at the Swan City Westgate location.

On January 12th, surveillance footage showed three people pouring gasoline over the floor and lighting a small fire by the back exit as they left. Then on February 28th, the business was extensively damaged by fire after a witness saw a flash inside the building. Perrett says it’s still early in their investigation.
