Construction on the Teepee Creek Ag Events Centre is finally underway, with phase one beginning this week.
Stampede Association President Mack Erno says the facility is several years in the making, and should serve the community in a variety of ways.
“It’s principally an indoor riding arena. It’s a project we’ve been working on for about five years that we’re extremely excited about and happy to see it get started. We’ve got a bunch of great sponsors; the County’s been a big supporter, as well the province, and looking forward to getting it happening.”
They’ve also had interest in use for dog agility events and 4-H events, as well as horse shows, team roping and barrel racing jackpots.
“It’s extremely important. We feel it’s going to be a real economic driver for our community and just bring a real sense of community as well. We have a really strong community where we’re at, and it’ll just build on that even more.”
The budget for the first phase of construction is around $1.2 million.
The hope is to have it finished by late fall.
