2017 Rotary Dream Home powered by solar energy

In 25 years, 25 per cent of the power for the 2017 Dream Home will be from solar energy. Empower Energy Corp will be installing 10 solar modules on the garage roof of the the Rotary Dream Home that is set to open to the public in January 2017. Ross Thiessen with Empower Energy Corp says those 10 modules are 2.85kW of power.

Thiessen explains that there will also be a two way power meter on the home. This will allow for the home to be powered off the grid at times. Other times, it will be putting electricity into the grid system.

Once the solar panels are set up, the energy use on the home will be able to be tracked at winadreamhome.ca.
