Today marks the first day of competition at the 2014 provincial Skills Canada event.
Several Peace region students earned their way to Edmonton by winning gold or silver in their event at regionals earlier this month.
A number of competitors hail from Grande Prairie high schools, who will be showing off their skills in events like cabinet making and hairstyling.
Over two days, they must complete an assigned project in their field.
The top high school and post-secondary students will join Team Alberta to compete at nationals in Toronto in June.
