Alberta wildfire has the fire hazard in the Grande Prairie area at low. Although there the risk is low, recent thunderstorms has the province looking for lightning holder fires which will burn underground and can be ignited when it is warm or there are windy conditions.

Fire crews had to extinguish one abandoned campfire over the Canada Day long weekend in the Grande Prairie Forest area. Altogether, there has been 60 wildfires burn in the area with a total of 138.5 hectares.

They would like to remind people that if smoke or a wildfire is spotted, to call 310-FIRE to ensure crews and resources can get the job done.
