Alberta minimum wage moving to $12.20/hour in October

Alberta’s minimum wage is going up by a dollar on October 1st. That will make it $12.20 an hour, and the server wage will also be removed this fall. The minimum wage will go up another $1.40 an hour to $13.60 on October 1st next year.

The provincial government is still working its way up to $15 by October 1st, 2018, despite calls to delay the increase. The lobby group Restaurants Canada has been outspoken against the election promise, saying it will lead to a reduction in jobs, hours and wages for workers.

Last October 1st, the Alberta government raised the minimum wage from $10 an hour to $11.20.
