Twistmasters well represented at National Armwrestling Championships

Six members of the Northern Twistmasters Armwrestling Club are on their way to Saskatoon to compete in the Canadian National Armwrestling Championship. The three-day event kicks off Friday night with weigh-ins. Youth, Masters, and Grande Masters will compete on Saturday, and the open adult classes pull on Sunday.

Representing Grande Prairie for the first time is newcomer Maria Peterson, who recently beat former world champion Christine Flicka. She’ll be joined by two members making a return after 10 years away from nationals. Chris Evans traveled and competed extensively in his teens, and is bringing his son Levi with him for a shot at the title. Club president Doug Curtiss will be trying to do the same as he support the team.

Bringing vast experience to the team are 20 time national champion and club founder Allen Barker, along with Gary MacDonald. The former national champion has attended countless Canada-wide competitions over the past 16 years.
