Grande Prairie Residential Society presents city with money

Dale Williams and Travis McNally from the Grande Prairie Residential Society presented the city with cheque this week, something Mayor Bill Given called a rare occurrence. Around 10 years ago, the Margaret Edgson Manor Project was started to provide housing in the community for people with physical disabilities. Williams says before this there wasn’t many options for living in the community.

“11 to 12 years ago when this all got started, we entered into an agreement with the city…The money that comes out of the Margaret Edgson Manor would go back into community housing in some form”

He adds that the provincial and federal government provided the project with grants that allowed for the group to have a low mortgage and create the reserves needed for the future. The city received a $55,000 cheque and will continue to get half of the net income from the building.
