The first pride festival for Grande Prairie was held over the weekend with a Family Carnival and Party in White on Satuday. Charlene Labrecque was one of over 600 people who passed through the event in the afternoon and was there with her family.
“I feel it is very important to be able to bring our children to events like this so that they know they would be accepted if they were gay and to show acceptance for anyone who is different, no matter what it is. Start them young.”
Minister Ricardo Miranda attended and he says he was excited to be part of this day in Grande Prairie’s history.
Mayor Bill Given officially proclaimed June 25th as Pride Day in Grande Prairie at the Party in White Saturday evening.
