City wants people to report a john

A Report-a-John sign has been put on the corner of 105th Avenue and 101st Street in Grande Prairie. Community Enhancement Facilitator Kristi Lea says this isn’t a new program but more of a program that needs some focus put on it. She adds that they weren’t getting many calls to report people buying prostitution.

“I don’t think it is a huge problem in Grande Prairie. We just want to make awareness that the program is up and running. If there is areas that are concerning, make sure they voice their concerns to us and report the acts that they are seeing.”

When you see John activity include the vehicle make and the license plate number when you call into the phone line.

“Everything is confidential. There isn’t any information shared except for with the report sent back. If we do find a John, a letter is sent out in the mail. They could also face fines after one or two occurrences.”
