Dawson Creek flood response expected to cost triple 2011

The City of Dawson Creek has lifted its local state of emergency as it deals with the aftermath of flooding from last week.

Part of that is looking at whether it will make more sense to replace the 15th Street creek crossing with a bridge. If they go ahead with the plan, it’s hoped construction will be done by this fall.

The cost of responding to last week’s disaster is expected to run $300,000. That’s three times what it took to deal with the floods in 2011.

Dawson Creek saw more than 110 millimetres of rain in just three days.
