UPDATE: City and County playing fields back open after rain

UPDATE: The outdoor fields at the Crosslink County Sportsplex have also reopened. The Clairmont School Ball Diamond remain closed til further notice.

Grass playing fields in Grande Prairie are back open for public use. The City closed them last week to make sure they weren’t damaged during wet conditions.

In just three days, GP saw more than 89 millimetres of rain. Gym and Sport Field Supervisor Lori Goodman explains that if they’d been used during that time, the damage would make them unsafe and unplayable, even after the rain dried up.

The Community Knowledge Campus artificial turf field was not affected.
