UPDATE: Wembley water main break located

UPDATE: The water main break in the Town of Wembley has been located. 28 homes south of the railroad tracks, and businesses north of them will be left without water until it’s repaired. The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership says water is still being hauled in to help the reservoir recover. Anyone needing potable water can find the tanks in the truck parking lot.

UPDATE: The Town of Wembley says it has turned water back on for now, but residents are advised to fill bathtubs, sinks, and containers as it will likely be shut off again. Anyone who notices water pooling or bubbling is asked to contact the town office. Staff are still looking for the main break.

Water in the Town of Wembley has been shut down because of a major water leak. The town determined there was a leak when the reservoir was steadily losing water on Thursday evening at around 9:00 pm.

At around 11:00 pm, the town contacted water haulers. The town is working on finding the break and recovering the reservoir.
