UPDATE: Wind warning for Grande Prairie region cancelled

UPDATE: A wind warning is no longer in effect for the region. Environment Canada says that while still gusty, winds have gone down to below warning levels.

A wind warning is now also in effect for the Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview region. Strong winds of 70 to 90 kilometres an hour are expected to continue until this evening. Environment Canada says damage to roof shingles and windows could happen. Loose objects could also be tossed by the wind and injure someone or cause damage.

A rainfall warning remains in effect for the region as well. Since last night, parts of the Grande Prairie and Peace River regions have seen between 25 and 47 millimetres. Another 30 to 50 is expected to fall by Friday.
