Grande Prairie team compete in STARS Simulator Competition

Grande Prairie was part of the STARS Simulator Competition yesterday at the Entrec Centre. Deb Wnuk and Kim Tufford competed against teams from Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Regina and Calgary. Flight Nurse and Clinical Educator Carol-Anne Doll says it isn’t just about making it to the international level of the competition.

“We do this regularly as part of our education just to stay really current and up on our skills. A competition like this really ups your game in terms of your critical care practice. At the end of the day doing all the practice it takes to compete at this level makes you a better practitioner”

She adds that these type of competitions give practice on working together to emergency responders. There are 17 nurses and medics as part of the STARS detachment in Grande Prairie.

Every year they received over 300 calls for service in the area.
