County of Grande Prairie Fire Crews responded to a residential structure fire early this morning. At around 2:35 am they received the call and attended the scene to find a house on Range Road 45 and Township Road 714A fully involved in flames. One occupant of the house left the residence when he woke up to the sound of fire and found the basement in flames. Once he left the residence, the smoke detectors went off.
The Fire Department says that this highlights the importance of having working smoke alarms on all levels of the house.
Bezanson, the Dunes and Clairmont fire crews responded to the fire which they had under control at around 9:00 am.
The fire is under investigation.
