Grande Prairie Highland Games this Saturday

Macklin field will be the stage for the Grande Prairie Highland Games this Saturday. the 30th Annual event will start at 9:30 am until 5:00 pm. The Clash of Clans opening ceremony will feature those honoured at the event over the last 30 years at 12:30 pm.

The event will also include the Haggis Hurl which is open to everyone. Highland dancing will going on all day including The Sailor’s Hornpipe, The Highland Fling and a dance known for recruiting called Wilt Thou Go To The Barracks, Johnny?.

The heavy sports include Throwing the Hammer, Tossing the Caber, Putting the Stone, Throwing the Stone and Throwing the Weight over the Bar.

There will be a shuttle bus taking people to and from the back parking lot of the Towne Centre Mall starting at 10:00 am with trips every 30 minutes.

Admission for the event is $15 for families, $5 for seniors, $3 for children ages 4 – 11 and Kis under 3 are free.
