Grande Prairie arrest part of major Hells Angels bust

A lengthy investigation into the Edmonton chapter of the Hells Angels has led to 10 arrests, including one in Grande Prairie. 56 year old Anthony Shaw on no fixed address was taken in during several search warrants carried out simultaneously in May. Staff Sergeant Dave Knibbs says the gang members and their associates were found to be stealing recreational vehicles and trailers and re-vinning them for re-sale.

“These high end trailers and vehicles were being stolen from area residents and businesses and then being fraudulently transferred. These vehicles were sold amongst Hells Angels associates at a steep discount, and in some cases, insurance fraud was being committed.”

In total 17 stolen travel trailers were found, along with 6 ATVs, 3 pickups, 2 dirt bikes and a snowmobile. Officers also seized 21 illegal firearms.

The Project Al-Wheels investigation was sparked by a Crime Stoppers tip about thefts. Two full patch members of the Hells Angels were also part of the bust and more than 300 criminal charges have been laid.
