Elderly woman dragged by transport truck in Grande Cache

A 70 year old woman is on life support after being dragged 100 feet by a transport truck in Grande Cache. The incident happened around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday on Shand Avenue.

The truck’s driver had done a full walk around and got into his vehicle when the woman entered a blind spot in front of the hood. The driver took off but stopped when he heard screaming. RCMP Sergeant Jack Poitras says the senior was hard of hearing and likely couldn’t hear the truck.

She was taken to the Grande Cache Hospital and then transported by STARS Air Ambulance to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. She suffered lost limbs and is in critical condition. No charges are being laid.
