Mobile mammography trailer returning to Peace region

Early detection of breast cancer is often the best way to increase the odds of beating the cancer, but for women in rural and remote communities, it can be hard to get routinely checked out. Alberta Health Services is once again bringing its mobile mammography unit to communities in rural parts of the Peace Region this summer.

It will be stationed at the Central Peace Health Complex in Spirit River from June 28th through 30th. The mobile mammography service will be in High Prairie, Worsley and Fairview in July, and then Grimshaw, Hythe. Valleyview and Peace River in August.

Women aged 50 to 74 are most at risk of developing breast cancer and should get screened every two years.
