Local seniors being celebrated

An appreciation week is being held this week for local senior citizens. County Reeve Leanne Beaupre says the week is to show the deep appreciation that is there for seniors in the area. She adds that they contribute to the heritage of the community as well as the charities and fundraisers with which they volunteer.

There will be free events held all week long to celebrate including a free event Thursday afternoon with live entertainment, prizes and refreshments at the Entrec Centre. Sexsmith Sunset Homes will be hosting a barbeque on Wednesday from 12 to 3 p.m. A tea will be hosted at the Beaverlodge Neighbourhood Resource Centre from 1:30 to 3 p.m. that same day as well.

The Clairmont Senior’s Centre will host the first event Tuesday. It will kick off at 10 a.m. and go until noon. Later in the afternoon, there will be another tea from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Hythe at the Pioneer Home. From 5 until 7 p.m. there will be a garden party held at the Wembley Community Hall as well.
