County providing FireSmart wood waste clean-up opportunity

The County of Grande Prairie is providing residents and businesses an opportunity to clean up their wood waste and be fire smart. There will be two Saturdays in June that will allow for people to drop off their wood debris, branches and deadfall at designated drop-offs. This Saturday June 4th there will be a drop off at the Hillside Estates. The following Saturday there will be a drop-off at Saskatoon Mountain Acreage. They will be open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm both days.

County Fire Marshal Ken Atamanchuk says participating in the County’s Annual FireSmart Wood Waste Clean-up is an opportunity to protect yourself from wildfires. He adds that wildfires do pose a threat to properties that have trees and grassy areas.

At both locations, there will be an Alberta Environment and Parks representative handing out information.

There will also be free BBQ hotdogs and refreshments on both Saturdays.
