Alberta Health Services is keeping Doctor Verna Yiu on as President and CEO. She has been in the position on an interim basis since January.
During that time, Board Chair Linda Hughes says Yiu has helped A-H-S move forward with critical work, and strengthened relationships with government, partners and the workforce. The decision comes after a four-month recruitment process that reportedly attracted 70 highly qualified applicants from around the world, but Hughes says Yiu is the best person for the job.
Her contract is for five years with an annual salary of $574,000. She replaces Vickie Kaminski, who resigned last November for personal reasons.
