Over $40,000 was raised for Fort McMurray evacuees in May. All three school districts in Grande Prairie including Grande Prairie Catholic School Division, Grande PRairie Public School Division and Peace Wapiti Public School Division joined forces in a challenge to raise funds.
They had various student led fundraisers throughout the month including popcorn sales, community barbecues and car washes. There are still fundraisers that continue.
The $40,628.48 raised and anything raised from fundraisers that ares till ongoing will go to the Canadian Red cross Alberta Fires Appeal.
