Rainfall warning issued for Grande Prairie region

A rainfall warning has been issued for the Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview region, along with the MD of Greenview near Fox Creek. Heavy rain is expected to start tonight with 75 to 100 millimetres expected in most areas by Friday night.

Environment Canada is calling for 30 to 40 millimetres in Grande Prairie Thursday, with 10 to 20 millimetres overnight along with 5 to 10 centimetres of snow heading into Friday morning. More than 10 centimetres of snow possible in some areas as well.

Residents are reminded that flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Washouts are possible near rivers, creeks and culverts.
