Two Clairmont fires being called suspicious

The County Fire Department is investigating two fires that happened in the last month and are being called suspicious. Both fires happened in Clairmont with the first one near the ball diamonds north of Clairmont Community School earlier in May.

The second one happened around 12:30 am 97th Street and 112th Avenue in the Hamlet on Tuesday May 17th. The flames were extinguished before any property was damaged.

County Fire Chief Everett Cooke says the area is extremely dry and there is an extreme fire hazard. The fire ban across the province remains in effect.

The fine for not following the fire ban can result in up to a $5000 fine.
