Evacuee info centre in Grande Prairie moves to new location

The information centre for Fort McMurray evacuees in Grande Prairie has moved. It is now located in the Community Social Development building, which is on 102nd Avenue behind the Farmers’ Market.

That’s where any displaced families who have made it to the Swan City can get information on local supports and updates on the wildfire situation. It will stay open from 1 to 4 p.m. on weekdays.

So far, 56 people have been helped by the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership, and Information Officer Michelle Gairdner says most of them want to know about the provinccial debit cards, and connecting with other evacuees, along with finding things to do in the city.
